Lol Russell Crowe...

All profits should go to building the real Ark in Kentucky.

BTW is there going to be the scene where NOAH gets drunk and sleeps with his daughter or something? I can't remember the story.

I about died laughing. This great flood and the first thing he does is make some wine and gets sloshed. Who wouldn't?

I'd rather have Gladiator 2... like maybe some pagan incantation brings him back to life and he must again battle evil and corruption at the highest levels of the Roman empire.

I may watch it if it's ever on Netflix. I'm not really into big budget horror movies though.

Everybody knows the story, so you can't watch this movie to see how it ends. Or expecting a different end. You can't critique the story itself.

When producers come up with a movie like this, they have to offer something to draw attention and it looks like they have some nice special effects. Can't wait to watch this!

I'll tell you all how it ends.  ;)

I read they made it into a kind of huge environmentalist propaganda piece, about how the flood was caused by humans' misuse of nature (who knows how Bronze Age humans could impact global weather...).

According to Big Hollywood, Aronofsky is going to take a different and to believing Christians and Jews an unsettling approach to the story. According to the director of the film due to open March 28, 2014, the story of Noah is not so much religious as it was environmental. Noah, in fact, was the first environmentalist.
http://voices.yahoo.com/noah-movie-environmental-allegory-11233114.html

Earlier reports of the film expressed disapproval that Noah was depicted as being centered on an environmental agenda, and that Aronofsky viewed Noah as the “first environmentalist.” Noah is also stated to be tormented with guilt for surviving the flood while others perished. It is not known whether those particular aspects still remain in the movie at this time.
(...)
“It’s clear that Noah is not a Christian film,” writes the blog Beginning and End in a lengthy critique of the production.
http://christiannews.net/2013/11/17/new-noah-film-starring-russell-crowe-flooded-with-controversy/

Then again, fealty to the original story isn't exactly Aronofsky's goal. He's said that the film is less about the classical teachings of the biblical narrative and more "about environmental apocalypse" because "Noah was the first environmentalist." After reading a draft of the script, Christian screenwriter Brian Godawa even called Aronofsky an "environmentalist wacko."

Paramount, which is financing the film, is allegedly not so happy with the green angle because it would prefer a picture it can market to faith-based audiences. In fact, the Hollywood Reporter wrote last month that the company had sparred over final cut with the director because "test screenings of various versions [produced] worrisome results."

Whoever believes they can connect to Jesus when watching a Hollywood movie is himself a "wacko".

I have no expectation this is a Christian movie or it will somehow shed some light about Noah and the flood. Or about Christianity, and who we are and why we are. Why would this be a Christian movie?

I think it looks interesting.  I plan on seeing it.

For those who "know" the true Biblical version, they shouldn't be threatened by a Hollywood movie.  Your faith should not be based on anything you see on the Big Screen.

Neither should you assume that people going to the movie, are going in "search of God" at the theater versus going to a church seeking salvation.

I don't know the entire story that will be depicted, however, unless it blatantly disrespects the Lord or supports views that are against Church teachings, than there's little harm done.

It's entertainment, and if it succeeds in perhaps making some people stop and think...then so much the better.

I think he's thinking of Lot.

This movie looks pretty darn bad and probably illustrates why people today generally have no idea how to think about or dramatize mythology.

Could be Noah, as he also got drunk and had an encounter with at least one son.

Is the Noah narrative straight "history" or an interpretation of what was believed to be a historical event (e.g., an ancient flood, also discussed in Akkadian and Sumerian texts) in the light of the Mosaic revelation?

I don't know why studios are worried about the movie making bank. If it's going to prove controversial with "faith-based audiences" then it's almost assured success. I knew a half-dozen people who went to see The da Vinci Code on the premise that seeing it would help them correct the errors society was sure to embrace.

Delving into the Rabbinic and "modern" commentary are we?

To the best of my knowledge, the Orthodox Church doesn't teach that Noah slept with his son(s).

There are some Protestant groups that have historically interpreted Ham's encounter with a naked Noah as sexual in nature (Ham being the instigator).

True.  I'll add that to the list of non-Orthodox sources and perspectives the posters appear to be drawing from.

I prefer the original.
It will never be as abominable as this one.

"The film portrays Noah as a resident of Sodom and Gomorrah and overlaps his story with that of Lot, who is at first his friend and later a villain. The wickedness of Sodom provokes God not only to destroy the city, but to flood the world as well."

The writers should be drawn and quartered.
