The color your name now has when it shows up at the bottom of the screen is the color that used to be assigned only to us moderators. Now we moderators have a different color, too. The only thing I've seen remain unchanged through all this is that our admins still have their names in red.

I like the change. That turquoise was really hard on the eyes, and after the rank reshuffle, there was altogether too much of it.

We had multiple posting ranks that didn't have distinctive colors, so the re-shuffle was to find 28 unique distinctive colors to cover all the groups.  Unfortunately when investigating and selecting colors the criterion, "Easily viewed on a white/light blue background" wasn't taken into account.  We're working on it, and will likely roll-out improved colors in the coming days.

a) Is it absolutely necessary for each rank to have its own colour? I mean, it's easy enough to see who are the newbies and who are the vets in-thread. Do they have to be so easily identifiable on the list as well?

b) Alternatively, the paler colours could be assigned to the lower ranks, so people aren't stuck with them for what feels like forever. >_>

Thank you, Fr. George, for giving us some insight into how this works. I do not mean to complain, but my own name hurts my eyes now, so perhaps something a bit more muted could be tried? (it would probably also be easier to read)

Green is the color of nausea or people who are inexperienced.

However, at Pentecost, the Russian Orthodox Church puts greenery everywhere, so green is a symbol of hope.

Red, on the contrary is a sign of joy, so it is used at the Nativity.

Remember the slogan "Better dead, than red." Well, red used to be the color for communism.

Blue is now the color of the dominant political party.

In the Church, however, blue is the color of the Theotokos.

Yellow is the color to remember POWs and returning GIs, but it used to represent cowards as in "Yellow belly."

Time changes meanings.

Red was used by the British Redcoats to hide the color of blood, or so the joke goes.

And Brown ?  According to that same joke, brown is the recommended color for a French Officer.

I heard that communist red was actually supposed to respresent the communist "martyr"s blood

anyway I am very distressed to represent vomit and hope

By comparing to others of the same shade, I guess bright green must be <1000 posts. So, if I post more frequently, my color will change - but, it kind of fits my nick. What will happen when I exceed 1000 - maybe orange??? Heaven forfend!!!

Updated color scheme:

For the first time in years, we've re-worked the Posting Titles system in a minor/major way.

Minor?  We haven't added any new titles.

Major?  We've radically altered the posting levels required to attain each title.  We've essentially re-scaled the system to make it easier to attain titles at the lower levels, and much harder at the higher levels.  The new system:
