well... we have.... problem....

Ecumenical Patriarch Vartholomaios was in Thessaloniki (Greece) these days.
I was (for other reason) outside Saint Dimitrios church some days before, the day he came to church. You couldn't count more than 100 people for the "welcome".

Now I just watch this video. The Patriarch went to turkish house of kemal Ataturk. If you don't know Kemal I must say that he was a slaughter of Greek Christians, Armenians, Kurds and others when he make Turkey.

Patriarch Vartholomaios said "I wish God rest his soul and I beg God his reformations to live forever and his words 'peace in the country, peace in the universe' as time passes to become reality"

After that I am sure that the next time he will come to Greece only police and priests will welcome him.

I am angry and many Greeks are angry too...

Gunnarr:
I heard about this too lol

And look at all those secuity guards!

as far as I remember also there was an anti-ecumenism protest during his visit as well

Hey, could you help us in the other thread with Patriarch Bartholomew and the mount athos monastery? with the latest post I made. What is Patriarch Bartholomew talking about Elder Ephraim of Vatopedi exactly?

Solution: move the patriarchate to Switzerland.

Could the EP have suffered recent threats by the Turks?

Threats from turks... I do not think so, it is just his usual self. I am sure he was not threatened to give a quote "the holy koran" as a gift it was just his usual actions

Even if threatened, no reason to give in. Patriarchs before were exiled, some martyred in order to keep the true faith or to keep from a divorce of an emperor, why be afraid of threats of turks

If I want to be nice, perhaps he just felt peer pressured to say something nice

xOrthodox4Christx:
Kemal Ataturk is better than the Ottoman Empire, if it weren't for him, the Orthodox world would still be under the control of the Turks.
