Been a silent reader for quite a while before I decided to sign up here.
I really like this forum because the conversation style is polite in general and moderators
see to it that ad-hominems are quickly contained before they escalate.
Unfortunately, this is rather exceptional for Christian boards.
Naturally, the apologetic "battles" being fought in the Orthodox-Catholic subforum are of interest to me
My main reason for registering here:
My most wonderful wife is Orthodox, I am a Roman Catholic favoring tradition.
We are both practising and serious about it, you can imagine this is challenging
Take it from me, I have a real good practical understanding why bishops from both East and West advised and continue to advise against or at least recommend caution
with those so-called "mixed marriages". It is not so much the theological differences - which do exist and are important - but rather
apparently small things in every day life which are self-evident for orthodox/orthodox or catholic/catholic couples.
Those little things cause dozens of discussions and controversies.
From a lot of personal experience, I know that one must tread lightly when it comes to things where the East and West disagree.
I really want to avoid polemics wherever possible, my main purpose here is to ask questions and learn more.
