Lately, I've been hearing a few whispers here and there about shale gas and hydraulic fracturing.

Haven't paid much attention but the little bit I've picked up seems largely negative. How bad is it, really?
This should be the object of a ruler's care;
His subjects' burden he should manfully bear.
He should not despise them or treat them like dogs
But love them as a father his children loves.
