...just an inferior samosa.  Tongue

I love girl scout cookies!  Cool

Those are Samoas, silly  Tongue

Samosas are the best things ever, though.

Fact: Samosa is the pet name I gave to a young man when he was a baby.

Samosas remind me of tongue-speaking Pentecostals, of Lucian and Paul of Samosata.

Can you never play me in Scrabble?

Thanks.

I was scrambling words. Is that what Scrabbling is?

Now that Indian is basically the only food you can get around here...

I want to tell you how blessed you are, but having had my share of bad Indian restaurant food, I'll just hope for the best.

Praying for the Christians in Iraq

We had a Chaldean lituturgy at my parish a year or two ago, and I seem to remember Allah being used for God... Though it could be my memory playing tricks on me.

Also, the Chaldeans present were surprised that I couldn't understand the Liturgy. Apparently I look Middle Eastern.  Cheesy

Correction: Slavic Bog is related to Bhagavan.  Wink

Podkarpatska, remember what I said about my inner Slav?  Smiley

Your inner Slav ought to know that the bellybutton of the world is not in India, but inside the Carpathian horseshoe.  Grin

This explains so much......all that lint....

now that the thread has reached it's obvious conclusion (complete chaos), i would like to point out that the medical term for too much lint in the bellybutton
(when mixed with old skin and a drop of hardened dirt) is 'omphalolith'.
so, next time you meet someone who is afraid to clean it out properly in the shower/bath you can inform him/her that he/she has an omphalolith.

these can be found not only in east/central europe over a cold winter (washing may not be practical at -20 celcius) but also all over the world!
of course the term may differ outside of europe...
 Cool

I don't know about bellybuttons, but I know the proper order of things.  Anything you can do we can do better.  For example, the pierogi...just an inferior samosa.  Tongue

My Chinese friends would beg to differ, as would the Italians......and anyone else whose indigenous foods include stuffed pasta pockets of a sort!!

Chinese and Italians prefer pierogis to samosas?  Fie on them!  Tongue

Just for funsies, I checked out an Arab orthodox website that specializes in Byzantine chant and wouldn't you know it: every hymn with the word "God" in it has the word "Allah" in Arabic versions of the hymn. For example, at Orthros for "God is The Lord" in Grave mode.

Will Theophilos please drop his prelest now and stop channeling the same spirits possessing JoshuaIsIam?

Same also in the Coptic Orthodox church (a church of mainly native Arabic speakers), as you can see by comparing the texts of the Tenermakarizon part of Vespers for the month of Kiahk (or many other hymns) in English, Coptic, and Arabic. Where English has "God", as in the line "and God has reconciled with us once again", Coptic has "Efnouti" (a Efnouti hotpen erof enkesop), and Arabic has "Allah" ( وأصلحنا الله مره أخرى).

Why don't you understand the difference between the name of something in a given language and the theology behind the use of the name? I'm perfectly fine worshiping Allah without becoming confused as to who or what I'm referring to when I use that name (to the extent that I do; I don't really use Arabic in worship unless it is giving responses or singing hymns in church, since I'm not a native Arabphone). I am sorry that you have become confused, but that doesn't mean that the rest of us have. Worshiping Allah is Orthodox for those Christians in Arabic-speaking cultures. I similarly do not shy away from Dios, Deus, Bog, etc. A rose by any other name, y'know? It's the theology behind it that makes the difference, as there are only so many names for God. Maybe you should work on your own theology before attempting to criticize mine or others' based on such a simplistic objection?

This is my final post on this issue:

I shall never pray to Allah or invoke him because I always obey the commandment in Exodus 3:15 and never submit to foreign gods (Allah, Allat, Al-uzzat whatever)

No matter what happens, I shall never pray with people who utter this word in their worship and never get any of the sacraments from a church where that word is uttered.

May Adonai YHWH bless and protect all of His children!

My furby analogy stands....

Furbish- This is the term for the special language spoken by the Furbys. When you first get a Furby, they will speak mainly Furbish and be quite difficult to understand, but as your Furby develops, they will speak more English and less Furbish. When fully developed, Furbys will speak roughly 80% English and 20% Furbish.

Why Furbys and not Furbies?

If we can break down their argument into a flow chart that would be epic.

It would probably be the greatest circular flow chart ever made.

I still love this one though:

That looks like a 20% Furbish plural, though.  Tongue

Samosas remind me of tongue-speaking Pentecostals, of Lucian and Paul of Samosata.

Do they produce evil, heretical after-effects for you?

I've never tried any, but the name sure doesn't sound appetizing at all to me. Unlike pierogi...

I would trust that man with my life to answer all of my religious doubts regarding Islam.

Just look at the paint palette hanging around his neck that seems to be encrusted in jewels.

Then the chef's hat is a nice touch.

Maybe, but my ear-drums tell me otherwise.
