My uncle
« on: October 10, 2013, 11:31:39 PM »
My uncle (not Orthodox), who has already been ravaged by Alzheimer's, had a bleed in his brain, which paralyzed him completely on one side.
They did brain surgery to relieve the pressure and it all went well, but we won't know for a while if any of the paralysis was just from the pressure and might be reversed somewhat, or if it is all permanent.

He was talking a bit and complaining that he didn't want the nurses to touch him, but we still have no clue how severe the long term results of this all will be.

He is only 72, so prayers for healing so that he doesn't spend a long time -both- not in his right mind and trapped in a non-working body, would be very much appreciated.
All opinions expressed by myself are quite tragically my own, and not those of any other poster or wall hangings.

Lord, have mercy and grant Denise's uncle a speedy and compete recovery!

Praying.
Conquer evil men by your gentle kindness, and make zealous men wonder at your goodness. Put the lover of legality to shame by your compassion. With the afflicted be afflicted in mind. Love all men, but keep distant from all men.

Lord, have mercy.
Psalm 37:23 The Lord guides a man safely in the way he should go.

Prov. 3: 5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.

The memory of God should be treasured in our hearts like the precious pearl mentioned in the Holy Gospel. Our life's goal should be to nurture and contemplate God always within, and never let it depart, for this steadfastness will drive demons away from us. - Paraphrased from St. Philotheus of Sinai

He is stable enough that they are transferring him to the Kaiser hospital (ahh insurance fun) within the next day or so.

He has been very ornery, and telling all the visitors to 'get the  H&$^ out', which is both frustrating for them but also good in the sense that he is trying to cover up some of his confusion with the anger.  This is the same thing he did at the start of his Alzheimer's, so I look at it as -normality- in his brain.

Thank you all for continuing to think of and pray for him.
