How is that funny?

Earth to Marc...

Often comedy plays off irony.

Usually a when someone breaks bad news to a parent about his/her sexuality it's to tell them they are Gay.
So when you reverse the situation and the bad news is that she is longer a lesbian, it's funny that the parents take the news hard because they are so liberal and will be embarrassed in front of their friends..

See ?..Comedy..Irony and reversering what is normal is usually funny.

Maybe I can post the clip and you and Norm can find someone  to walk you through it.
Your idea has been debunked 1000 times already.. Maybe 1001 will be the charm

I'd have to see it to say whether it's funny. Not like I can just read the description and say whether the episode is funny.

Paul Riser is the one of the many Jews making a living off the corpse of the brilliance of Woody Allen. The thing unique to Paul Riser is that he is not only terrible at it, he is the worst.

Did anyone ever watch Get a Life with Chris Eliot? I'm not sure if was really a good show but I really enjoyed it as a kid. Especially the episode where he build a submarine in his bath tub.
Loved it!

I wouldn't call it a sitcom, but The Wonder Years can be very funny. (Last night I watched "A Very Cutlip Christmas".)

Family Ties via Netflix.  I bet your ^ show rocks.  :)

Tried Family Ties a year or so ago. For my taste it was just too ... well, something.

Don't know if I've finally lost my mind or what, but today I went back to Family Ties. Only I decided to skip around instead of picking up where I had given up on it before.

None, as I'd sooner have my back waxed than watch a sitcom. But then I 'm a curmudgeon.

Some episodes are funny. The show seems to be heavily focusses on finding a mate. I'm starting to get bored with that.

I confess that I do enjoy it for entertainment value. However, I think it trivializes the very subject that it purports to confront. The show relies on straw man arguments and lowest common denominator portrayals to an inexcusable fault, in my opinion. As a pacifist, I abhor war and violence. Therefore I hate to see such evils trivialized for the sake of a cheap laugh or specious political commentary.

Regarding pure artistic worth, I think M.A.S.H. is one of the few shows that actually got better with the changing of the cast. My favorite character is Major Winchester, played by David Ogden Stiers. His acting is pure brilliance. And I also thought Harry Morgan improved the show greatly.

That's my two cents on it.

I'm still on Season One, but I'll try to stick with it long enough to get to those guys.
