Anyone have any thoughts about Carrie? (Yesterday I saw it straight-through for the first time; though I had seen much of it on TV a few years back.)

If you are referring to the original movie, I loved it. Very creepy, but very well done. Sissy Spacek is probably my favorite female actor. Very underrated.

Piper Laurie does crazy very well, too. ;D I first saw it when I was 17. The final scene sent me straight to bed, to cover up to my head and leave the lights on. :P

:)

While watching, I felt certain I'd seen Laurie in other major roles, but apparently I was wrong about that.

I don't want to say too much, since some posters may not have seen it, but I thought its ending was well done.

P.S. Maybe I'm just fishing here, but has anyone heard of religious groups being offended by Carrie because of the religious fanatic of a mother?

I haven't heard specifically. I wouldn't be surprised if there were.

Not specifically targeting Carrie, but I found this rather telling, as well as amusing:

If you go to the link and look at the side of the screen, it comes up with a link called "Fifteen best performances by fake noses on screen."  :D

Deadgirl. Apart from the crappy acting it's a disturbingly interesting new take on the zombie genre.

The Return of the Living Dead. I found this film hilarious for some reason.

The Last Man on Earth starring Vincent Price. Out of all the films based off of Richard Matheson's book, this one comes closest.

You are not alone in that reaction, though I seem to recall the writer/director O'Bannon claiming that that was not how he intended it. *shrugs*

Used to be one of my favorite horror movies to go to sleep to. Good stuff.
