Hello everyone.
I was wondering if someone could tell me what the inscription is on the Gospel Book of St Nicholas in the following Russian, 16th century, icon:
It should be Luke 6:17, as that is what commonly appears on icons of St Nicholas - and it is what I've read on later Russian icons: a variant of Во время стоял Иисус на месте равнине, и народ учеников Его.
Maybe its because the icon is older and the script is different, but I just can't see the above words in this particular icon. Does it say something else?
