For the repose of the servant of God, John Aldridge
« on: September 25, 2013, 10:12:28 AM »
John was a wonderful, wise and funny man, and an active and beloved member of our parish family. Please pray for the repose of his soul and for his wife of over 40 years, his three children and grandson.

May his memory be eternal!
"If but ten of us lead a holy life, we shall kindle a fire which shall light up the entire city."

Memory Eternal.
Psalm 37:23 The Lord guides a man safely in the way he should go.

Prov. 3: 5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.

Lord, have mercy!
That is the land of lost content,
  I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
  And cannot come again.

Just returned from the funeral - it was literally standing room only (and not just because we don't have pews - we did provide chairs!) The church was packed with people who loved and respected John.

He was buried right next to our beloved priest, Fr. Jacob, who fell  asleep in the Lord in January.

The memory of God should be treasured in our hearts like the precious pearl mentioned in the Holy Gospel. Our life's goal should be to nurture and contemplate God always within, and never let it depart, for this steadfastness will drive demons away from us. - Paraphrased from St. Philotheus of Sinai
Writings from the Philokalia: On Prayer of the Heart,
Translated from the Russian by E. Kadloubovksy and G.E.H. Palmer, Faber and Faber, London, Boston, 1992 printing.
