A local Catholic priest has been found in a compromising situation.  Keep the community your prayers.  It sounds as if he has been transferred around a bit.  I hope the diocese was not aware of any prior actions and permitted him to stay on...

The fact that he admitted posting an ad in the "casual encounters" section of Craigslist says it all, unfortunately.  Undecided

I think those parishes are all within the RCC diocese of Scranton, PA.  (I'm originally from Freeland, outside of Hazleton, where my father was ACROD' s parish priest there many years ago.)

Lest we gloat about the superiority of our priests over the RCs (hasn't happened yet in this thread thankfully): Orthodox priest arrested

This is very disturbing regardless of which church, temple, synagogue or mosque may be involved. The violation of a child, teenager or vulnerable adult by someone in a position of trust or authority is deeply disturbing for the victim and others around him or her. And for the community they are supposed to lead. No wonder the OP asked for prayers for the communities involved.

I hope the victims get all the help they deserve, although I fear many may remain traumatised and unknown for too long. And I hope that anyone hid this has the book thrown at them.

Tragic.

I wonder if the diocese or the "pope"  will remove his faculties over this

Because, after all........who is he to judge homosexuals?

Sorry, the abuse of a child, teenager or vulnerable adult by an adult in a position of trust does not simply equate with 'homosexuality'. If a man or woman were to similarly abuse a young person of the opposite sex we would not pass it off. So, please, your point is?

(If I come over short it is because I have seen the trauma such abuse can cause, life long in a lot of cases. So for me there is no room for levity around this issue).

I thought the article said the Bishop of Scranton immediately suspended him and removed his ministerial faculties.

Deplorable and as sickening as such activities are, it's so much more so vile when they are perpetrated by clergy, thus likewise defiling the pristine church.  At least the superior ecclesiastical authority has taken appropriate immediate action.

Had this been a more humorous topic, I would have liked to say yes, but no, I was not that clever.
