Some of you may remember a year ago when I lost my friend Dmitri to an inattentive driver.  Today is the first anniversary of his death and it's killing me that I can't make it to his panikhida down in DC this morning as I'm the only one in the office today.  His fiancee posted this on facebook as a memorial and I'd like to share it with you and ask that you say a prayer for him on this, the first anniversary of his passing.

Quote
“…one year ago Dmitri and I embarked on a beautiful journey to WV. We stopped for classic cars and lunch. I picked up the tab. We got frozen custard and watched an elderly couple next to us share their cone. We searched out vintage clothing and visited our favorite Pocomo’s Iron Works. Dmitri met a black bear that he thought was super cool. We filled up and literally rode into the sunset. He rubbed my knee and minutes later the universe took what was always hers. Dmitri passed doing what he loved with whom he loved, many never get a death like that. If you can’t get on a bike today stick your hand out your car window and feel the breeze. That’s where he is, still riding.”

Vicnaja pamjat!

Also, WATCH FOR MOTORCYCLES, please!

Lord, have mercy!

Since you are unable to attend, you could have a service done by your priest or by Holy Corss Hermitage:

Grant blessed memory and repose, O Lord to the soul of Thy servant Dimitri, and make his memory to be eternal!

So another year has passed.  Please take a moment to say a prayer for the repose of the soul of Dmitri.

Memory eternal.  I'm just seeing this for the first time and my heart has sunk into the pit of my belly.  What a tragedy.  God console you and Dmitri's fiancée, and may they be reunited in the Paradise of Joy.
