Pray for the Christians of Iraq and Syria.

I so hope I don't regret this.   Smiley

I'm starting this thread in the hope that people can use it to have some innocent fun.  It's for having some laughs and lightly poking fun, but no heavy polemics.  Anything too polemical or nasty will go to the private forum.

So here goes:

Here's a link to a meme generator:

http://builder.cheezburger.com/builder/

(Thank you, Alpo, for the link.)

From the Hyperdox Herman thread, here is Miaphysite Mina:

My genius nephew did some pictures for Armenian memes.

Here is Grumpy Armenian Cat:

Here is Grumpy Armenian Cat's cousin Sako:

The picture of Khor Virap Monastery and Mt. Ararat came from here:

Does anyone know if the Miaphysite Mina picture is an actual photo or is it a composition from multiple images?  I'm trying to imagine it as an actual moment in time caught on film, and I can't stop laughing.  What a monk!

It is a real, not composite photograph. If I recall correctly, it was taken in the wake of the attack on the Abu Fana monastery a few years back. Not really a funny situation, if you think about it.

The Armenian word for turkey (the bird) is "huntgahav."  "Huntga" comes from "Hunteeg," which means Indian.  "Hav" means chicken.

I have no idea if they have them in Armenia.

I never thought of that.  Of course the "hunteeg" in this case refers to Native Americans, but the h-n-t root would have its origins with the word Hindu.

In Syriac, "Indian" is "hendoo".  As soon as I saw "hunteeg", I knew what was going on.
