For the recently departed servant of God Joshua
« on: September 02, 2013, 10:36:36 AM »
Please remember in your prayers the servant of God Joshua who departed this mortal coil last night.  He was the epitome if "Dont Judge A Book By Its Cover."  A bouncer at the famous 9:30 Club in DC, Josh was tattooed and pierced all over and was very intimidating looking but also quite gentle.  If you were causing problems and.had to leave the club, he did not fight you, he simply moved you and that was that.  He was the kind of guy who always high fived you back even if he didnt know you.

Memory Eternal!
Conquer evil men by your gentle kindness, and make zealous men wonder at your goodness. Put the lover of legality to shame by your compassion. With the afflicted be afflicted in mind. Love all men, but keep distant from all men.

Memory Eternal.
Psalm 37:23 The Lord guides a man safely in the way he should go.

Prov. 3: 5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.

Lord, have mercy!
"If you are going to serve the Lord, be prepared for times when you will be put to the test. Be sincere and determined. Keep calm when trouble comes. Stay with the Lord; never abandon Him and you will be prosperous at the end of your days. Accept whatever happens to you. Even if you suffer humiliation, be patient. Gold is tested by fire and human character is tested in the furnace of humiliation. Trust the Lord and He will help you. Walk straight in His ways and put your hope in Him. " Sir 2:1-6

May his memory be eternal.
The memory of God should be treasured in our hearts like the precious pearl mentioned in the Holy Gospel. Our life's goal should be to nurture and contemplate God always within, and never let it depart, for this steadfastness will drive demons away from us. - Paraphrased from St. Philotheus of Sinai
Writings from the Philokalia: On Prayer of the Heart,
Translated from the Russian by E. Kadloubovksy and G.E.H. Palmer, Faber and Faber, London, Boston, 1992 printing.
