Social Attitude Test
http://slackhalla.org/~demise/test/socialattitude.php

My results:

Political Values

Radicalism   88.5
Socialism   100
Tenderness   56.25

These scores indicate that you are a progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a university professor. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a pragmatic attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear communist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as left-wing.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, an idealist with primarily strong opinions.

This concludes our analysis; we hope you found your results accurate, useful, and interesting.

Unlike many other political tests found on the Internet which base themselves on untested (and usually ideologically motivated) ideas, this inventory is adapted from Hans Eysenck's own political inventory which was developed after extensive empirical investigations in the 20th Century.

I tried the test, and it's a crock, both in its assessment of me, and, more importantly, in the sloppy wording of many of the questions, which lend themselves to all sorts of interpretations, thereby skewing the results.

I took it out of curiosity, and my results were:

Quote
Radicalism 80.25
Socialism 37.5
Tenderness 68.75

These scores indicate that you are a tender-minded progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with an animal rights activist. It appears that you are moderate towards religion, and have a balanced attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear capitalist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a political centrist.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a centrist with very few strong opinions.

Sort of. I have a few strong opinions, though my tendency to seek out multiple ways of looking at things probably makes the last bolded part mostly accurate. I am not really a capitalist; I'm more of a semi-socialist who sees the value in certain elements of capitalism.  Political centrist is as fair a description as any I suppose. Tender-minded progressive, etc. are also accurate, as far as such vague terms can go, though a specific example like "animal rights activist" would not be close to the mark.

Radicalism 52.75

These scores indicate that you are a very tender-minded moderate; this is the political profile one might associate with a protective parent. It appears that you are accepting of religion, and have a generally optimistic attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear neither committedly capitalist nor socialist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a political centrist.

I agree with LBK. Tests like this are absurd. Most of the questions were phrased in a way that made it impossible for me to commit either way, so I opted for the middle bubble. Ergo, I appear to be a "moderate." Probably the first time I've ever been accused of that. LOL. I've been accused of being a raving right wing conservative for my opposition to abortion, and I've been accused of being a flaming liberal for my pacifism. But I've never been accused of being a moderate, until now. And I certainly have very strong opinions.

I do hope the 84% rating on "tenderness" is accurate. I try to be a tender person, even though I don't always come across tenderly with my words. But my opposition to abortion and my pacifist convictions stem from a deep love for humanity and for the sanctity of life. I hate to see human beings suffer, and I try to use my words to oppose forces, practices, and ideologies that contribute to suffering and death.

My results were almost identical to Gebre's: I was slightly less socialist - 37 - and more "tender" ~ 90. "Protective parent"...  ::)

And I also agree with LBK about the test.

It's things like question #5 that irritate me: "Soft drugs, like marijuana, should be legal."

First of all, I don't consider marijuana a drug. Second, I don't smoke marijuana. Third, I don't think hard or soft drugs should be legal. So it's a stupid question. Why not simply state it, "Marijuana should be legal"? I could answer that easily.

But they had to find a way to put in the word "soft" to make it sound better.  Drugs are drugs.  There are legal and there are illegal, but they are drugs.  Either way, I knew what it was getting at and answered accordingly.

My results apparently were:

R 44.5
S 25
T 75

A tender minded moderate
Protective parent
Accepting of religion
Generally optimistic toward humanity in general
Capitalist and right wing
An idealist with few strong opinions

------------------------------------------------

:) And there's me thinking I'm only a little to the right of that 'pinko' the Genghis Khan and have a bucket full of strong opinions like the need to hang persistent parking offenders, sack police officers who smile on duty and laicise clean shaven clergy. Just don't think the right questions were asked!

The fact that it posits that I might be a libertarian animal rights activist (do those even exist?) with very few strong opinions shows that it's junk. I too ended up clicking a lot of "it's not that simple" center dots.

Even though I didn't look at, let alone take, this "test", I passed it with flying colors:

Radicalism: 72
Socialism: 3
Tenderness: 1,572
Glucose: 26
RBC: 5.3 million/uL

It told me that I'm now qualified to graduate to the level of taking an on-line I.Q. test.  What it ("it" being this test) didn't know was that I've already done that and my I.Q. and credit rating are exactly the same!

Anyway, I, for one, DID find my results to be "accurate, useful, and interesting".  I would take this test again, but only under pain of a long, drawn out, excruciatingly painful, anesthetic-free dental procedure, which, since I cannot afford such frivolity, is not likely to occur.

Thank you for your time and patience. ;D

Apparently a lot of us come across as sincere clergymen.

I do agree with the other comments that the wording of too many questions leaves much to be desired. Phrases like "far too much" sent me to the middle choice.

I have no idea what they thought was "tender" about my choices.  My wife would laugh her head off if anyone described me as "tender", except for the soft spot in my head. I am also definitely not a capitalist and do not have libertarian social view, so I would say this survey gets a 0/10 rating from me.

No, no, no. The test is either crock or we slewed, consciously or unconsciously, our answers. Indeed it failed to answer the right questions, e.g.

Which way round the altar does your priest cense, clockwise or anticlockwise? Which calendar do you keep, old style, new style or civil? Do you agree long skirts or micro miniskirts are appropriate church clothes?

Capital punishment for failing to vote, strongly agree or disagree? Do you greet carol singers with, "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays or a two fingered salute and slam the door?

Got to go and load the shotgun now, there's Jehoval Witnesses in the neighbourhood..... :-*

Radicalism   61
Socialism   50
Tenderness   59.375

These scores indicate that you are a moderate progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with an animal rights activist. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a pragmatic attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear neither committedly capitalist nor socialist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a political centrist.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a pragmatist with very few strong opinions.

This concludes our analysis; we hope you found your results accurate, useful, and interesting.

I tried the test, and it's a crock, both in its assessment of me, and, more importantly, in the sloppy wording of many of the questions, which lend themselves to all sorts of interpretations, thereby skewing the results.
Stop whining and put up your scores

Radicalism 44.5
Socialism 12.5
Tenderness 71.875

These scores indicate that you are a tender-minded moderate; this is the political profile one might associate with a protective parent. It appears that you are accepting of religion, and have a generally optimistic attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear laissez-faire capitalist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as right-wing.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, an idealist with several strong opinions.

This concludes our analysis; we hope you found your results accurate, useful, and interesting.

Interesting, because I don't consider myself a laissez-faire capitalist, but whatever.

Socialism   100
Tenderness   59.375

These scores indicate that you are a progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with an animal rights activist. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a pragmatic attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear communist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as left-wing.

I don't know about that one, but the rest of it is pretty close.  Communist, skeptical of religion, left wing on social issues... I think augustin has admitted to all of that pretty openly.

although the test is overly-simplistic it prob gets your basic direction right. to say "100% communist" has not much more meaning than saying "100% christian".
and as much as I am skeptical of any religion that purports to wipe away social and economic problems in a mist of mystical clatter, so I am of any  political ideology, communism included, insofar as it pretends to have a "scientific" answer to everything. i think that 19th century marriage of many strains of marxism to the century's scientism was bad for the communist movement.

I have spoken to everyone, and he says, because he knows,  that it is obvious that communist + skeptical of religion + left wing on social issues = animal rights activist.  Always and without exception.   Usually.
