How do you say Memory Eternal - in Greek
« on: August 22, 2013, 09:09:24 AM »
I have a Greek friend who has lost his father.

I'd like to wish him something like:

May God grant your father eternal rest among his saints, and may his memory be eternal.

I don't trust Google translate for something like this....because it may come out jovial sounding and I wouldn't know it.

....AND is there some way to write it using English letters?  I don't know Greek.  :)

Conquer evil men by your gentle kindness, and make zealous men wonder at your goodness. Put the lover of legality to shame by your compassion. With the afflicted be afflicted in mind. Love all men, but keep distant from all men.

"Memory Eternal (Greek: Αἰωνία ἡ μνήμη, Eonia i Mnimi)..."

Hope this helps.

It does, thanks!

I'm just afraid of handwriting - Αἰωνία ἡ μνήμη.  What if I get some squiggle wrong?   :-\

Aιωνία η μνήμη.

These are all the squiggles you need. The rest still appear in more ancient forms of the language, but modern writing did away with them in 1982.
