I have a Greek friend who has lost his father.

I'd like to wish him something like:

May God grant your father eternal rest among his saints, and may his memory be eternal.

I don't trust Google translate for something like this....because it may come out jovial sounding and I wouldn't know it.

....AND is there some way to write it using English letters?  I don't know Greek.  Smiley

"Memory Eternal (Greek: Αἰωνία ἡ μνήμη, Eonia i Mnimi)..."

Hope this helps.

It does, thanks!

I'm just afraid of handwriting - Αἰωνία ἡ μνήμη.  What if I get some squiggle wrong?   Undecided

Aιωνία η μνήμη.

These are all the squiggles you need. The rest still appear in more ancient forms of the language, but modern writing did away with them in 1982.
