Coming back to Orthodoxy?
« on: August 21, 2013, 07:24:27 PM »
Since I was once Orthodox, and I fell into apostasy yet I never joined a religion other than Christianity.   If I chose to come back to Orthodoxy,  how would I be received?  I had been chrismated once in the Greek Archdiocese of the U.S.A.,  are there any specific rules to that?
Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the catholic faith; Which faith except every one do keep whole and undefiled, without doubt he shall perish everlastingly. And the catholic faith is this: That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity

I can't say for certain, but as a sometime apostate I have never had anything happen other than confession and communion to reconcile me (twice I think); other than that just perhaps a period of time passing to prepare for the reconciliation.

If you had joined another group you'd be chrismated again, otherwise I think confession and Communion would be the norm. Plenty of people lapse, loose faith, fall into atheism, and then return years later without there being a formal process involved.
