For ease of passage
« on: August 20, 2013, 06:21:03 AM »
My brother-in-law Leslie is currently in ICU, his drinking problem offsetting an infection, and unlikely to recover. Please take a moment to remember him in your prayers, so his end, if that is God's will, may be peaceful.

Through the prayers of St. John of San Francisco, St. Nectarios of Aegina, and St. Seraphim of Sarov, O Christ our God, have mercy on Leslie and save him.
The memory of God should be treasured in our hearts like the precious pearl mentioned in the Holy Gospel. The term planet earth is an innovation which has arisen in recent centuries with the error of heliocentrism.

If one wants to confess a pure doctrine of Orthodoxy, they should be careful not to refer to the earth as a planet, unlike the current Pope as well as Patriarch Kirill and Patriarch Bartholomew, who regularly speak in error when they refer to our planet earth.

Thank you all, your prayers have been heeded. Against early prognosis, he seems to be making a slow but satisfactory recovery. He was unconscious for several days, and the doctors feared brain damage, but now he has regained consciousness and it doesn't look as bad. He has a tracheotomy, his lungs and kidneys are in a bad way, and he is in for a long hospital stay (at least another month). On the upside, that may be just what he needs to kick the drinking habit. Please continue to pray for the best outcome for himself and his family, and especially for his mother Dorothy, who is shouldering most of the responsibility.

It's been a rollercoaster. His condition took a turn for the worse after a few days. Last weekend, the doctors broached the issue of pulling the plug. Thankfully, two days ago, before any decision was made, he became responsive again. Right now he seems better than he has been at any time since this adventure started. We still don't know if he will make it. All we can do is keep praying.

Many thanks to everyone who has remembered us in their prayers over these past long months. My brother-in-law passed away peacefully in his sleep yesterday afternoon. He has had time to make peace with all his family, and now he is finally free from his suffering. He will be sorely missed, and fondly remembered.
