to be honest, this looks to me like it could be from a miaphysite polemicist arguing against a chalcedonian understanding of the incarnation.  what this looks like is an aporetic question.  there are tons of them in greek and in syriac out there.  i wrote that article in brock's festschrift in which i talked a bit about some of these questions and their ubiquity.  look at cook's article, too, on the origins of kalam.  the place to get info on all this stuff is grillmeier.  i can't remember which volume.  if you look at my article, it's all in the footnotes....
