A young Syrian Orthodox shamosho (deacon) who lived in California recently passed away. He was about to become a monk. To honor his memory, his family has produced a documentary on the monastic life well worth seeing.

Quote
This documentary was created in remembrance of Deacon Issa Albert Simon. Our goal is to bring society closer to God and give them a clearer perspective about the rewards of a monastic life in this new ear.
This documentary was taped at St. Antony Monastery at Newberry Springs, Ca. It's a documentary that interviews various monks as they talk about the monastic life and the steps involved in becoming a monk.

May God repose Dn. Issa and comfort his family, and may this man who truly loved God intercede for our weakness here on Earth.  It was a beautiful tribute and I loved his written piece expressing his love for God.
My sins run out behind me and I do not see them, but today I am coming to judge the errors of another.

May his memory be eternal!
Vain existence can never exist, for "unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain." (Psalm 127)

If the faith is unchanged and rock solid, then the gates of Hades never prevailed in the end.

Issa was very close to a good friend of mine. I met him briefly on a few occasions. He was a sincere and devout young man, and is greatly missed by his family and church community. May the Lord Illuminate His Soul.
