There is a woman at my church who reads Russian better than she reads either Armenian or English. She wants to learn about Holy Communion, and when I gave her a small book in Armenian about the seven sacraments, she later said it was too hard for her to read. I need something simple in Russian that explains Holy Communion. Is there something on this page that does that? http://www.fatheralexander.org/page9.htmIf there is nothing there specifically about Communion, is there at least something on that page that goes through the seven sacraments and which would at least touch on Communion? Is there any other source in Russian I can get a hold of over the internet? Thanks. |

The events of a century ago led to many Armenians fleeing to other countries, including Russia, or regions where Russian was the dominant language. |

The events of a century ago led to many Armenians fleeing to other countries, including Russia, or regions where Russian was the dominant language. Thanks. That's what I assumed but my brains seem to be unable to comprehend idea. A downside of being born into a monoethnic country. |

The woman speaks fluent Armenian, but doesn't read it well. Her education was in Russian. This is not uncommon among Armenians who are born in countries in the diaspora. My mom's first language was Armenian, but she doesn't read it at all. She only reads English. In my church's bookstore, we have Bibles not only in English and Armenian, but also Russian and Arabic. |

Not just Armenians. Many Indians born in the US can speak our "mother tongue", but can't read or write. And then there are weirdos like me who can read and write just fine, but can't speak a grammatically correct sentence to save their lives.  |

I don't know how true it is now, but I have heard people say that even in Armenia it was quite common for people to know Russian better than Armenian, not just in the diaspora.
