I've alluded to this recently but hadn't officially announced it. I've made the decision to become a catechumen in the OCA. So you guys are stuck with me now. Too bad for you.

Seriously though. It's been a tough decision. I'd made it "intellectually" a few months but it took awhile for my emotions to catch up.
My family isn't thrilled although they don't know I've made up my mind definitively. My mom keeps suggesting that I check out a local Catholic church recommended by a priest she knows. My father, a very serious Roman Catholic, won't discuss it with me. I've pretty much explained Orthodoxy to them as Roman Catholicism without the pope which seemed to make them happy. I'm not becoming Baptist after all.
I feel happy and somewhat relieved to have finally come to a conclusion ending a somewhat 'stormy' part of my life. The discernment process takes a lot out of a person.
I expect a long catechumenate period as I am entirely too argumentative for my own good but at least I'll be a member of the Orthodox Church.
