The photos in the article are pretty much the reason why I'm sharing this. Mostly it was the guy throwing the egg at the gay couple that caught my attention.

I'm waiting for SCOBA's declaration against these actions, and those who condone them.

Still waiting.

I remember when gay marriage went through in WA there was a declaration by the Orthodox clergy of Washington about it.

So I'm expecting a declaration about this any day now. Post is probably just slow.

I didn't see the picture of egg throwing, but, this one bothers me.

Nobody should be kicking them, especially not a kid.

Not supporting them in their sinful activities is one thing, violence is another.

I'm surprised they even have food in the first place, let alone food to spare for throwing.

Anyhow, this is one of those personal feelings vs. legality issues. Personally, I don't like homosexuality or support them, yet, at the same time, I don't support stopping them from doing what they want or harassing them (since they aren't harming anyone but themselves), because the one thing I hate even more than homosexuality is a police state.

Yes, but when the provinces are acting up and their governors aren't sufficiently addressing the problem, then Rome has to take action.

I disagree with your last part as homosexual behaviour can destroy families and cause hurt to others (imagine how you might be treated if you had to live with the public knowledge that your father has a boyfriend) - but I agree with your main point. It doesn't seem right that homosexuals are given undue attention - by both their detractors and their supporters.

I imagine it's no different than the public knowledge that my father was a drug addict, I have less money than most of my friends and that my mom miscarried.

Does homosexuality really disturb people this much?

The parades and such could be seen as subversion so it is well within the Russian government's right to try and limit these.

Otherwise, the best thing Russians could do to stop this is if straight couples would actually get married and have kids.  Right now they are having population decline.  They are making less future Christians.  Get to it!

nope.  it's homosexuality that will threaten human civilization.

I always tell myself I will never do something as unChristian as this... Then I see a gay couple and think "I should throw this egg at them"

Lord have Mercy

I'm feeling all anecdotal today.

When I got my license and split from the hell that was my home pretty much for good, my brother called me to stop by.

My brother is a serious fellow. Sorta quiet and easy going. I showed up and he was nearly in tears.

In my family, when a man is nearly in tears it means one of two things:

He is sad. We are not uptight like most of the guys I grew up around and know now about crying.
He is on the verge of homicide.

In this case, it was the latter.

And my brother was not to be trifled with, no matter what age he was and no matter how small he always had been. I bear a scar till this day from my brother taking flesh out of my arm with his teeth when he was about three and half. And the first time I was knocked unconscious it was because of my brother. He took a brick to back of head when I was around eight or so for something that help angered him days prior.

Well, he was bleeding from just below his eye. Someone in a car had thrown an egg at him. He knew who it was and had told them, there were three guys in the car, to meet him at one of the local areas used by us for fighting.

They were two years ahead of him in school and he wanted me to take him to settle the problem.

I had no desire to get into a fight that day so I told my brother I would take him but I wouldn't do anything unless a knife or gun was used.

So I took my little brother to meet these three guys. Each one larger than the next and the smallest larger than my little brother.

After about five minutes, two of the guys were bleeding and unconscious on the ground and my brother beating the one who threw the egg at him just enough so that he remain conscious and forced him to say and do many humiliating things.

This is a long way of saying, be careful how lightly you take throwing eggs at people. God help you if it happens to be someone like my little brother.

Yes, actually it does. Some kids do get beat up just because a family member is gay, and they try to stand up for them (or not). People are mistreated for a lot of unnecessary and unfortunate reasons.

With global economy being as it is, internationalist proletarian class consciousness dying all sorts of minorities will be scapegoated in order to detract attention from the real enemies: the owners and transaction era of capital and their political pawns. In Hungary I hear there is a resurgence of antisemitism and anti-gypsy sentiments.

This is a long way of saying, be careful how lightly you take throwing eggs at people. God help you if it happens to be someone like my little brother.

well here's hoping a few of these egg throwers DO run across a couple of gays who are tough like your brother.

They certainly exist, but how many of them actually go to these parades?  As Orthonorm once put it, parades are gay.

Look for the bears and the leathermen.

That's true, but those two groups are where you'll find most of the gay biker types.

I disagree.  We need more.  We also need gay restaurants, gay coffee shops, gay libraries, gay schools, more gay neighborhoods, etc., etc.

Again, all the above are already gay.

What's more gayer than sharing?

Isn't that the whole point of kindergarten? To learn that one very important life lesson?

I was so let down the first time I went to a gay bar. It was just so... vanilla. Really nice people running the place though.

Go to bourbon street and keep walking until you get to what the tourists call the "other end."

(imagine how you might be treated if you had to live with the public knowledge that your father has a boyfriend)

I imagine it's no different than the public knowledge that my father was a drug addict, I have less money than most of my friends and that my mom miscarried.

Does homosexuality really disturb people this much?

You've got to be kidding me.
Yes, actually it does. Some kids do get beat up just because a family member is gay, and they try to stand up for them (or not). People are mistreated for a lot of unnecessary and unfortunate reasons.

So?

Then stop the bullies and combat the violence. Why should the innocent party have to change just for the bad party? I feel bad for people like you. That's like telling a Black kid during the Civil Rights Movement to bleach his skin so that bigots don't bully him, or a woman not to be beautiful so she doesn't get raped.

Am I the only one who sees the stupidity here?

Hang on a minute, James. You originally said:
Quote
Anyhow, this is one of those personal feelings vs. legality issues. Personally, I don't like homosexuality or support them, yet, at the same time, I don't support stopping them from doing what they want or harassing them (since they aren't harming anyone but themselves), because the one thing I hate even more than homosexuality is a police state.
All I've done is point out that others can and do get hurt because others have engaged in homosexual behaviour. Please don't think I approve of the bullying or violence in any way. It isn't right, but it happens.

Like you, James, I "don't support stopping them from doing what they want or harassing them". I disagree with your idea that this type of sinful behaviour is without farther reaching consequences.
