Prayer books
« on: June 01, 2013, 02:19:56 AM »
Ladies and Gents,

Anyone care to recommend a prayer book(s) ??? I'm realizing I probably need one, but I'm wondering if one is preferred over another, does it matter if it is EO or OO, etc. Opinions!

Thanks in advance.

I like this little gem.

Of course, you would want a larger one, but this works great!

Assuming the church you go to uses the same language you pray in at home, that is.

does it matter if it is EO or OO, etc.

It matters if it's EO or OO. Not so much because one is 'better' than another, but because the EO book will contain the same prayers you'll encounter in church and because you'll have a common point of reference with your priest and fellow parishioners.

I thought all EO traditions have English-language prayer books by now.

I would suggest most persons in general avoid any question beginning with why.

I attend a Greek Orthodox Church, so EO. I believe almost all the ones I have seen geared towards that are English....in fact most I have seen are English language as well except for some Coptic/OO books. So many choices for EO English language :o
