Church bulding
« on: May 31, 2013, 10:13:13 AM »
I just recieved our parish newsletter and was surprised (and happy) to find out that, because of the current number of parishioners, the current location is no longer suitable. Therefore, the parish will try and seek for a new, larger place of worship. Until now, the parish have celebrated liturgies in our priest's basement, so this is very good news.

I would like to humbly ask if you would say a quick prayer, that a new church building may be found.

Thank you.

Shouldn't be too much of a problem in Western Europe, right? Lots of empty churches everywhere.

Lord, have mercy and help your parish locate a suitable building to worship in.

There are a lot of empty churches yes. That doesn't mean that it's easy to buy them, however. Most churches in Denmark are owned by the state church or organisations within it. This means that there's often a lot of bureaucracy tied into it. Earlier this year, 16 churches were scheduled to be closed and sold. In the end, only two were closed and they are way too expensive.

Lord have Mercy!
It is a good thing though that the parish is growing.

Psst: Ansgar: we got a similar thing going on here. An old being shortage of priests, as our parish is in need of an second priest.

Lord, have mercy on Ansgar and his parish.
Psalm 37:23 The Lord guides a man safely in the way he should go.

Prov. 3: 5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.

They found a place. There is very little information and no pictures, but from what I can gather, the first liturgy will be held on October 1st (the parish's feast day).
