Hi all, I am new to this board.  I am in the process of studying with my parish priest (Greek Orthodox, though i am not Greek) to be crismated.  Also I will be having four of my kids baptized...(the other one already  was) My question is-- does anyone know where i can find perhaps a description of just how it goes during the crismation and/or the baoptism?  What about godparents? how on earth do I find those?  I knwo that the priest will be able to help me with these issues, but I'm one of those weirdos  Cheesy that likes to knwo whats coming up!

Hi!

This is the best place to find the information you are looking for:

http://www.goarch.org/

Specific text of the Baptism service is here:

http://www.goarch.org/en/chapel/liturgical_texts/baptism.asp

And here is a CD about it:

Hey, Aurelia! Welcome to the board!  (Pretty name...it's what we call my wife (Audra) in Spanish!)

I am in the process of studying with my parish priest (Greek Orthodox, though i am not Greek) to be crismated.  Also I will be having four of my kids baptized...(the other one already  was)

Congratulations and welcome home!

My priest basically set me up with someone he knew had a similar personality to mine (did a good job, too!).  If you get to know somebody in the parish really well, sometimes a godparent/godchild relationship just spontaneously blossoms before the time even comes 'round.  In that case, you could mention that to the priest as a suggestion.

Congrats again, and many years!

Thank you for the links, they were most helpful!  I cant see how to actually get a hold of the cd, though i think it would be interesting, and somehow i missed the listing of liturgical texts when i was browsing the Archdioscese site a while ago!
thanks again,
Aurelia
