Sharing Saints?
« on: May 27, 2013, 12:34:56 AM »
Okay, I have to say to start off, I hope, and pray that our Bishops are returned safely and alive. But, this situation made me think.

God forbid, if these two Bishops are martyred what will we do?

Our two Churches are close now, possibly as close as ever. We've shared in suffering in the Middle East for many centuries. Now, we have two hierarchs who are being held captive, and I fear, who may have been killed.

If our two Churches, which are now so close, both suffer and share martyrs in the same event, whether it's a case of two kidnapped hierarchs, or the case of Oriental & Eastern Orthodox being martyred in a single event. Would we see a glorification of both for each side? Would Eastern Orthodox likewise glorify Oriental victims/martyrs of such persecution, and vice versa? Or would we simply see each side glorifying only their own?

Let's wait until this matter is resolved before commenting.

FWIW, the Chinese Boxer Rebellion resulted in Catholic and Orthodox martyrs, but each side only glorified its own side's martyrs. That said, the EO/OO are indeed closer than the RC/EO were then.

Anyway, I just hope this conversation doesn't become a reality with more bloodshed.

Just did a Google search on the topic. They aren't home yet, but some people are claiming they are still alive and in good health.

Let's pray they are home safe soon.
He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will have no end.

That is from earlier this month when the false reports arose that they were released.
