After 32 years together my wife became pretty annoyed when I recently became an Orthodox Christian (although she was also surprised & grateful I wasn't angry anymore!)  I wasn't sure where her bitterness was coming from but didn't think it was really directed at me personally so I just tried to answer her questions and respond to her arguments as best I could.  She was also going through a bad time with health issues, work stress and an impossible elder care situation with her mother.  I tried to offer practical advice about things but kept coming back to the overarching importance of God.  Was I 'pressuring' her to believe or really trying to help?  I still don't know.  She did take an immediate liking to the Liturgy however and slowly started to feel better, more open and interested but still held back in some way I couldn't understand - lots of doubts, lots of problems... none of which I seemed to be able to help her with.

We were talking to our priest last week about things and he asked her ... "would you like to be baptized next month?" and without a pause she said "yes" and covered her mouth with her hand!   Who would have thought?!  angel

Wonderful news.

Welcome HOME to the Mrs!!!!

absolutely !  I was tempted to ask my wife if she was sure, if she wanted to think about it more.. but luckily for all concerned I just kept out of it.  I don't know if our priest surprised me more by asking her or she by agreeing - he said to her "it's where you're going anyway..." as if he already knew (which I suspect he probably did).  Now we're trying to catch up to our new changed life ,  and at our age! -  truly, with God everything is possible!

He addressed the heart rather than the rational intellect...thats what I love about Orthodoxy. I wish you both great joy.
