The Psalter of Frederick II is outstanding.
I'd like a facsimile of that in colour to use !
It is another excellent example of how much unity in iconography existed between East and West in the 12th century.
I'll never forget a roman catholic priest telling me that "we don't use images like that here in the west, that's very byzantine".
