Never tried the stuff myself. Everything I know about Ovaltine I learnt from A Christmas Story. Oh, and Seinfeld.

Haha, Ovaltine is pretty good.

Have you checked Rite-Aid or CVS for it? They carry it around here, and I think it might be something most drugstores have in their grocery section.

Here it's called Ovomaltine and it's one of the major flavours for milkshakes:

^ Fabio Leite, are you from Brazil? I had a pen-pal for years from Brazil named Juliana, and I remember most talking to her about desserts and things, and she mentioned this drink and said it tasted better than American Ovaltine. I don't remember why though. I also remember her talking about an avocado sweet drink, which is where I think we kept talking about sweet things so much since it was so unique.

Yes, I am.

Finding out that people actually have avocado as an ingredient to non-sweet food is one of the great food astonishments Brazilians have when going abroad.:) I, on the other hand, am not a big fan of avocado even in juices or desserts.

That's probably what she was talking about:

Vitamina de Abacate

The only drink you should ever drink in Brazil is Antartica Guarana.

I prefer Kuat.

And in Maranhão they have Jesus Guaraná, with cynamon and clove. It sells more than Coke. Then Coke bought the company. :)

That's it! My biggest astonishment was that they were used in sweet things! I've only had it in guacamole! I guess it makes sense though since avocados taste almost like butter or something very fatty with little flavor to me. I like them!

I've heard of this one, but not the others mentioned like Kuat or Jesus Guaraná. These seem like energy drinks to me, but that's probably just from guarana being in it.

This thread is making me thirsty.

I never cared for Ovaltine even though I love malt and chocolate. I am sure it is better now with the reduction in vitamins and the increase in sugar. I have been making my own chocolate syrup with cocoa, sucralose (a requirement for some people in the household) and water with a touch of vanilla and cinnamon. Heat over the stove and add the vanilla at the end. Malt syrup is hard to find these days but there is usually a home brewing supply store somewhere close. Grind your generic one a day vitamins in a coffee mill and add it. The whole process probably takes about 10 minutes. You will need a funnel if you are going to put it into squeeze bottles.
