Supper was nettle soup.
even being born in a country where the country hedges are full of nettles in the spring and summer,
i had to go to romania before i experienced nettle soup.
actually nettle stew is my favourite, just made with onions, garlic, nettles and a few herbs.
you quickly boil the nettles first for 2-3 mins to take away the 'sting' and then fry them once the onions are brown.
in the uk, the best time for picking the fresh nettles is may; it's important to only use the young leaves, or you will scratch your throat.
i also like the idea of switching off tv / computers / telephone internets etc. for a few days (or more!) during lent.
