Please remember all those medical students who are waiting for results of the Match into their respective residencies. Mine isn't until next year, but I do have many friends of mine who are waiting to know whether or not they got into a residency. It's one of the most nerve-wrecking moments of a medical student. If they don't match, they enter into something called a "SOAP" to look for residency spots that are vacant, which gets even more nerve-wrecking.
I have 5 particularly close friends in my prayers (Karim, Mina, Bishoy, Magdy, and Reena), but also all medical students as well deserve prayers as well for all their hard work up until now.
Lord, have mercy!

So, Reena, Karim, and Magdy matched, as well as many others I've seen on facebook. However, I haven't heard back from my friends Bishoy and Mina. Keep them in your prayers.

So an update, my friend Bishoy, who applied to Neurosurgery, and my friends Mina and Vahe, who both applied to General Surgery, did not match. Please keep them and anyone else in your prayers as they try to apply for vacancies. I know them all personally. They would all make excellent surgeons. Very bright, intelligent, competent, passionate, but surgery is an extremely competitive field. Even with high scores, it proved quite difficult for them to make it first time around. Sad truth: it's sometimes who you know, and not merit alone. May the Lord strengthen their hearts and give them the residencies they are passionate about and deserve.

My friend Mina called me. He got offered a position (or as we call it, got SOAPed) into preliminary surgery. Please continue to keep Vahe and Bishoy in your prayers.
