Not looking for documentaries, bio-pics, or concert films, but movies that revolve around the themes of rock/music culture. Here are four of my favorites:

Easy Rider

Almost Famous

Dazed and Confused

This Is Spinal Tap

Well, there is ... . .

Not looking for documentaries, bio-pics, or concert films,

Oh... nevermind. That's really all I have, other than Spinal Tap. I mean, I know of others, like The Stoned Age, but I'd hardly call them good movies, let alone favorites  angel

Same here. Everything I have is a documentary, except for Rude Boy (the Clash movie) and Rodrigo D: No Futuro (Colombian punks/street kids in 1980s Medellin; very rough film, starring actual kids, not actors; a few of them got murdered during filming. I guess it's sort of like The Harder They Come of Colombian punk rock movies...)

Well, go ahead and list whatever you like. I guess my OP was a little too limited in scope.

Here are a couple to get the ball rolling:

The Song Remains the Same

Woodstock

Cool  Cool  Some of my favorites/enjoyables...

- Until the Light Takes Us - Documentary on black metal.
- This is Spinal Tap - The original mockumentary; best rock/metal movie ever?
- Anvil: The Story of Anvil - Documentary about the metal/rock band Anvil, very real-life-Spinal-Tapish; sad but heart warming
- Mastodon: The Workhorse Chronicles - Entertaining intro to the band (though they try too hard to be funny), and lots of live music
- Some Kind of Monster - That's right, I like this movie. Come at me bro.
- The Big 4 - Good tunes from Megadeth and Slayer. I heard Metallica was there as well.
- Opeth: Lamentations - Akerfeldt Opeth being Opeth, in concert.

Yeah, Spinal Tap deserves to stand alone.

I liked Anvil: The Story of Anvil too.

'St. Augustine Pray for Me'

La Bamba is a great movie with how accurately it captured Mexican-American culture in California; a family favorite--even if the music wasn't that good. I also enjoyed Notorious, even though I think that it portrayed Tupac in a negative light and ignored the fact that he taught Biggie how to rap.

Paradoxically, much as I love rock music, I don't care at all to see it as the subject of movies. All the music-heavy movies I love are about dance, not music itself.

@ Asteriktos: Wasn't really a music-movie; only featured an actor who was also a musician.

I also enjoyed Big Punisher's two documentary films--especially the Still Not a Player one that his wife funded. I found it very sad and touching seeing how much he struggled his entire life and the problems that he had with his explosive temper and overeating. You see the more human side of him.

I loved this movie when it first came out. But as I got older it got less appealing, and that's strictly from an artistic standpoint. My favorite movie of the urban gangsta/hip hop/street genre (I don't know what to label it) is Boyz In The Hood. It is as good today as it was when it first came out. I think that movie was an incredible work of art. I don't know what happened to John Singleton's other films. They were really weak in comparison.

Yes James, my sons love La Bamba too. And I actually think the music was excellent. Some sweet guitar from Carlos Santana throughout the film, and I absolutely love the Mariachi version of La Bamba in the Tijuana brothel scene. I have tried to find that version online, but alas, to no avail.

Crossroads (1986)

Such. A. Disappointment.

I watched it just for the Steve Vai bit, and it wasn't enough to lift the utter dreck the rest was.
