St. Augustine of Hippo pray for me!

« on: February 17, 2013, 12:39:19 AM »

So, it came to my attention that we do not have an official thread where we share our birthdays, so I decided to make one. Share your birthday here and share any interesting facts about the day of your birth! My birthday is February 18th, 1996, and I do not know of anything cool that happened on February 18th.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY James!

My birthday was July 26, 1968. I think Mick Jagger and Alexander the Great also share that birthday. Wish I had better company than that.  Sad

My birthday was October 25, 1994.

October 25 is the day of the Battle of Agincourt and the October Revolution (o.s). Quite cool, I think.

My birthday was 9 May 1972. Shared down to the year with Romanian champion gymnast Daniela Silivaș, and otherwise with J.M. Barrie (Peter Pan author), Howard Carter (archaeologist of King Tut fame), conductor Carlo Maria Giulini, actors Albert Finney, Candice Bergen and Rosario Dawson, singers Billy Joel and Anne Sofie von Otter, athletics champion Marie-José Pérec, and several others. Smiley

Historical events on the day include Romanian independence, the approval of the birth control pill, and the eruption of the Watergate scandal. Wink

Well, there's always a friend of mine, who has his birthday on August 29. Following the New Calendar, his birthday always falls on the commemoration of the Forerunner's beheading, a strict fast day.

Sept. 5

I share a birthday with Alexei Konstantinovich Tolstoy (cousin to the Tolstoy people have actually heard of), Bob Newhart, and Freddie Mercury.

A bunch of truly awful historical stuff happened on this day, too, like: "1877 – American Indian Wars: Oglala Sioux chief Crazy Horse is bayoneted by a United States soldier after resisting confinement in a guardhouse at Fort Robinson in Nebraska."

Ugh.  Sad

I was born May 7, 1952. According to the Wikipedia article, I share a birthday with many notables, including some Orthodox ones. A few rascals are in there, too  Cheesy. But none born (or died) in 1952, so I guess that makes me special. I'm looking forward to the year 2051, my 99th birthday, which will be Pascha. I've been inviting people to the party, but no acceptances yet, just strange looks  Tongue.

Sept. 21st 1984 on the papist calendar.  Whatever the 21st is on the holy calendar of St. Julius is the Theotokos's birthday.  Perhaps if I don't wind up in hell we can share a birthday party someday.

The problem with that is the Theotokos is one of those people who already has everything. She just asks Jesus for something and he always does as she asks out of love. What could you possibly get her that she'd want?

My birthday's 26th November. About the only thing interesting historical event I can recall happening on that date is Vlad Tepes' third accession to the throne of Wallachia...

I don't seem to share my birthday with anyone particularly interesting either.
