Are you thinking there'd be diversity of opinion on him?

Not to be flippantly dismissive, but something of such a personal nature as this is best addressed by your priest, not by anonymous yahoos on an Internet discussion forum.

I first saw him when I watched a documentary on the poverty in Liberia.  I think it's great that he's a changed man and is working to help youth who have suffered from being child soldiers.

Why on earth is this in religious topics?

there's been lots of controversy, many think that he only said what he said he saw because he was about to be put on trial.

From what I saw, he would've been given the death sentence or something, but was spared since he converted to Christianity.  Evidently the Mother of God appeared to him and told him to renounce his ways.

I heard it was Jesus who came to him.

According to this, it was "A white lady speaking [his] dialect."

I saw that video long ago, I'll try to find the video I saw of him claiming it was Jesus but I do have a bad memory so you could be right.

In 1996, Blahyi had a dramatic encounter with Christ during one of the most brutal fights in the history of the Liberian war, an encounter many deemed similar to Apostle Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus.
