Greetings, everyone!
The forum suffered a crash yesterday after a server hiccup that affected both us and http://www.EuphrosynosCafe.com. This hiccup managed to mess up one of the MySQL tables where all the posts are stored, but thankfully, we did not appear to lose any posts, or at least not many.
In the process of troubleshooting, I decided to upgrade the forum to a newer version, something which I had put off for some time.
Everything appears to mostly be working, except I am aware that the custom profile mod field (where we can list our faith & jurisdiction) is not working at present. Also, the moderators will notice that the Visual Warning Mod is broken (they can still receive reported posts though). These issues will be fixed as soon as possible.
If you notice anything else out of the ordinary, please let me know in this thread.
In Christ, Fr. Anastasios OCnet Founder & Technical Administrator

Well, I have an oddity. In checking the "New replies to your posts" There are a number of threads in the list that have last replies from anyone in 2010 and 2011. They're not *all* of the threads I've posted in, just some. The most recent ones from the past few days all look to be in order re replies.

Well, the entire board is poorly visible in Firefox.
Also, the reply button for this thread (with me in Chrome where I can better see the board) was very nearly not visible.

Fr. Anastasios,
First, allow me to express my gratitude for all of the hard work put into this website. I know it isn’t easy to keep things going smoothly all of the time.
The only thing I have personally noticed were some older threads were listed as recently posted on in the Show new replies to your posts area, but there were no newer posts.
Everything else seems to be going as usual.

Hi! Thought I'd mention, when I hit "Show unread posts since last visit" it only shows two threads, but when I then hit "Show new replies to your posts" it showed a whole bunch of them. Perhaps the system is still working things out? Also, thought I'd also let you know everything in the Droid (mobile) version looks just fine, no problems. As others have said, thank you!

As other I can say: thank you very much, fr. Anastasios for all your efforts put into this site, which I think does a lot of good work and bring some people to Orthodoxy. But I must say I miss the pole "jurisdiction" and looking forward for bringing it back up soon. Jurisdiction x but my heart belongs to x, jurisdiction x/y etc. It can be only in the Orthodox Church. And, because of this crash, now I know (and belong to) the group of oc.net on Facebook

When I am trying to post, even a quick short reply, I will often get a message that I have to log off as I am offline. That is very annoying. In those cases, I just hit post once again, and it usually goes through.
I do not get that at other boards.

Since the server upgrade the “Unread Topics” option tells me there are no new unread posts. The last 10 updated posts at the bottom of the main page attests otherwise.
That said, “Unread replies” still works.

They are no longer necessary. OC.net has declared a single jurisdiction in North America, the Patriarchate of OC.net. All members of OC.net are automatically ascribed to this jurisdiction. Either that or the upgrade software did not include the proper code to display those fields.

I think that when you are posting a reply, and someone else posts one in the meantime, that it gives you notice that someone has posted a new one, but now it doesn't show you what they actually posted.

If you are going to monkey around with stuff, and this would be an easy change, would you consider making the character allowance for signatures longer? I understand wanting to keep things restrained, but as it stands people can put images in it which are fairly large, yet I often can't fit more than a couple verses of Scripture in it without running out of room. Giving a bit more leeway would be appreciated, if possible.

Before the crash, one could literally choose from among 16,777,216 colors. Now, unless the user knows how to manipulate the 3-byte hex code for customized colors, one can only choose from among 14 different colors, and white is not one of them.
Let's see if this experiment with byte codes works.
