I've made instruments before, but this would be my first stringed instrument.  What wood do you recommend I use?  I don't have a budget but since it is my first time I would rather not buy or ruin my tools with ebony if at all avoidable.  I'm not looking for world class quality just some wood to get started.  If I decide to make a stradavarius I'll be sure to resurrect the thread Wink

What type of guitar are you making, a solid body electric or an acoustic?

We buy pre-made parts thru Warmoth, so you could look around on their site for wood ideas.
