Sick.

Not sure how this qualifies as news.

Besides, the "priests" aren't Orthodox. Everyone knows that "if" the Orthodox priest wears his wedding ring, he wears it on his right hand, not his left.  Smiley

Actually a lot of married priests I know wear their wedding ring on the left, to fit into American culture better

LOL

This reminds me of those "Sexy Firefighter" calendars they put up for women and gay guys.  It's rather disturbing that they're supposed to be priests and yet are potentially inspiring lustful thoughts in those that look at the calendar.  Cheesy

Wearing a wedding band on the right hand is not necessarily a sign that one is Orthodox. Many regions and cultures do so as well, such as northern and eastern Germany, the Baltics and parts of Scandinavia. Hence Alpo's comment.

If they are seminarians they need to be expelled from the school. If they are priest they need to be defrocked. Simple as that.

well it was certainly done in romania; maybe seminarians.

I'm quite sure this is the work of people like ACCEPT (a Romanian association for LGBT rights, whose president used to be a seminarian, and now he's sort of changed camp) or the Secular-Humanist Association. The latter is very vocal in publicly criticizing the Romanian Orthodox Church for being exempted of taxes for its many businesses with vestments, icons etc and for building a huge cathedral in Bucharest - hence the picture in the tailor's studio and the one at the construction site of the cathedral. It's pretty much a satire in the LGBT genre. The models are highly unlikely to be real priests or seminarians, in fact they look quite ridiculous and out of character in cassocks.

There was an Italian version of this a few years ago with young priests and seminarians from Rome, done by some famous gay photographer, but those were probably real and they were fully clad in clerical attire. I guess these guys just stole his idea and tried to come up with a nastier version.

”The patriarchal pangaria” lol

Curious how in Romanian ”pangar” (from Gk. παγκάρι - ”alms chest”, perhaps the Christian version of the Jewish temple/synagogue γαζοφυλάκια of old) ended up meaning ”church shop”. By purely coincidental homophony it sounds a lot like „a pângări” - „to defile”.

Has anyone else noticed that most of the responses to this thread are from males?

Should I order one to serve as a motivational aid to get me going back to the gym? Grin Or would I just end up thinking: guys like that are just so two-dimensional  laugh?

It is one thing to be struggling with your sins, and something completely different when you flaunt it.

easy easy so many other things/actions/whatever can be construed as "flaunting your sins" yet they don't raise an eybrow from the better part of the pious crowd; those that usually get elected to parish councils, founders, benefactors etc.

I'm serious I need a wall calendar for 2013 and it's hard to get to the Romanian churches here. Too far, too tired etc. I've got the one from St. Tikhon's 2013 the ugliest thing out there. Whoever put it together has no eye for aesthetics. The sure mark of godly heterosexuality.
