As of January 1, 2013, same-sex marriage is legal in Maryland.  How does the local CBS station cover a same-sex marriage?  By going to what they think is a Roman Catholic Church; however, the church is a "new" Catholic church which is not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church despite what their own website says:

Link to this "new" Catholic Jurisdiction (which consists of just one church):http://www.newcatholicna.org/index.html

I'm not aware as to how this church came into being.  There was a Methodist Church at the same location.  There's also a Roman Catholic Church one block away.

Quote from: Baltimore CBS Station
They exchanged vows at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. It is one of many congregations choosing to open their doors to same-sex weddings.

“Jesus loves everyone and I think He would be here celebrating with us if He were walking the earth today,” said Bishop Joseph Steward.

From the website:

"All of our services are custom designed to fit your needs and as a result we are able to perform Traditional Catholic services, as well as Protestant, Non-Denominational, Inter-Denominational and Spiritual."

I'm not sure that's something to be proud about. Its basically like saying "We're the church of Wal-Mart, we don't really believe in anything but we'll pretend we do so you can imagine you're part of something and share something with us - even though you really don't. Please remember to tithe regularly since that's the only reason we exist."

When you will essentially perform any kind of religious ceremony you're an actor.

Oh, wow...

Look at their "staff attire" gallery. They are actors. They've got everything from cardinal's cassocks to bishop's mitres.

Just to add that the local NBC station reported that the church was "Independent of the Catholic Church" in reporting the same story.  When your audience is religiously ignorant, appearances are everything.

The Archbishop looks rather intense:

That's a sign of true orthodoxy! All these smiling clergy that I see nowadays is outrage! Was it being faces full of teeth coming at you in 19th century Russia photographicals? (serious)
