Having a problem with Safari
« on: December 31, 2012, 07:29:32 PM »
Hello people!

I'm having an issue with Safari on my MacBook Air.  When I zoom in with my fingers, It either a) freezes, or b) I can zoom back out, but THEN it freezes.  Either way, it freezes.  I can do Command+W to get out of the window & start a new window, but that issue continues in the new window & Every subsequent window.

Anyone know what is going on?!

I thought i'd try here before Apple forums.
I got nothing.

You may have bad memory stick.  How long have you had the system?

I found the problem right here.

How can I verify this?

Verify that your system fans are working.  They circulate air through the laptop reducing heat buildup.  If your fans aren't working, they need to be repaired.

Second, I would reseat the memory stick.  Take it out of the slot, blow any dust off the stick and the slot and reinstall it.  If things improve, you're good for a while longer.

If the freezing behavior reappears, best thing would be to just replace the memory stick.  Due to heating/cooling, the memory stick separates from the slot resulting in the freezing behavior.

And now to figure out how to open up an entirely aluminium solid body of a MacBook Air!

thanks for the help!

p.s. I shut it down for 24 hours, and now it's working like a charm.  makes me wonder...

Glad to hear it! The next advices was to give it the Fonz treatment (bang it once with your fist and say "ehhhhhh")  :police:
