Reader's Panakhyda?
« on: December 26, 2012, 07:48:40 PM »
Anybody know if there is a Reader's Panakhyda?  Can you give me the link to the text?

Thanks!

Don't know about that, but there  are canons and akathists for the departed. The Old Orthodox Prayerbook has a canon for one departed soul and a canon for many. There's also an akathist for a departed loved one, and a general akathist for all the departed. There's another canon (I think totally different from the others) for the departed sung on Meatfare Saturday in the Lenten Triodion. And, IIRC, the Daily Octoechos has two canons in each tone for the departed on Saturdays.

Then, one follows the way of doing a reader's service with canon and akathist. It would make something very nice.

If you spend long enough on this forum, you'll come away with all sorts of weird, untrue ideas of Orthodox Christianity.

I would suggest most persons in general avoid any question beginning with why.
