Would you recommend this book.  I've heard it's a tough read.

I have not read it, but I've heard good things. I've read his Journals and am reading For the Life of the World. Those have inspired me to check out the rest of his works. I plan on getting the Eucharist after Christmas. I love his approach on the Liturgy and Orthodoxy in general. His writing is very refreshing. I'd say read it.

It's been many years, but I recall it being worth the effort (but then I am a fan (though not a worshipper) of Schmemann).
Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more.
A hasty quarrel kindles fire,
and urgent strife sheds blood.
If you blow on a spark, it will glow;
if you spit on it, it will be put out;
                           and both come out of your mouth
