Children are among at least 12 people killed, according to reports by a local newspaper.
NEWTOWN, Conn. — Some children were among those killed in a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., on Friday, The Hartford Courant reported.
The number of victims is unclear, but NBC News is reporting that at least 20 children at the school were shot. The local ABC affiliate reported that at least 12 people are dead including the gunman who is believed to be a parent of one of the students. I remember when we had a gun scare at my school. Any parent's nightmare. I knew it hit the news when all the students' cell phones went off (I told them to answer them, a sole exception).

I pray the Lord strengthens the grief stricken parents and helps them through this tragedy. I also pray that the Lord forgive the shooter and not hold it against him. We don't know his situation, and wishing such torment on another soul is simply horrific...and no better than physically killing them. May the memory of those killed be eternal, and may they rest among the saints. May the injured be healed...both body and soul. Dear Lord have mercy upon us all. |

The death toll is 28, including 20 children and 6 adults at the school, the shooter, and his mother.
May the memory of those killed be eternal, may the Lord take onto Himself these innocent children and those who cared for and nurtured them, and may they be at rest in a place of peace.
Prayers for the comfort of their families, especially their parents and siblings. Prayers also for the children and teachers who survived, that they be comforted and their emotional wounds be healed. Prayers too for the police, fire, and emergency medical techs, and all who had to respond to and deal with this horror, that their minds and hearts be comforted in the days to come, as they must relive and deal with what they encountered.
