Glory to God! I can't recall how many are in the alternative synod. Will this lead to more returning to canonical communion? Can you share a link with us, please? In Christ, Andrew

Alternative Synod? Bulgarian Old Calendarists?
I wonder what prompted him to return.

The death of the patriarch, I'm sure.

Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more. A hasty quarrel kindles fire, and urgent strife sheds blood. If you blow on a spark, it will glow; if you spit on it, it will be put out; and both come out of your mouth

The death of the patriarch, I'm sure. Could be. However various Old Calendarists seem to complain about Ecumenism and Wrong Calendars and I don't think the repose of the patriarch has changed anything with those. Anyway, good to have back in the fold.

The first one. I wonder what prompted him to return. He has been supporting reunification since 2008.

Anyway, good to have back in the fold. It sets up a different dynamic, removing previous loggerheads (not the Patriarch made himself one, such things often run beyond the actors themselves). Hopefully something similar will come about in Ukraine, the sooner the better.

A more in-depth article from the leading Bulgarian Orthodox site: http://dveri.bg/axf3kIn short, we've gone up in the number of bishops and those who are returning to communion will have their episcopacy dated fro the date when they were consecrated even if this had been done in the 1990s by the Alternative Synod e.g. if you were consecrated as bishop by Alternative Patriarch Pimen in 1995, the Bulgarian Patriarchate will accept 1995 as the day when you became an official Orthodox bishop.

This is IMO exactly how economy should be practiced. They might have stayed in schism just out of personal feelings if this wasn't the policy.
