Hello Eveyone,
I was wondering how one would choose a patron saint?
I am ashamed to say that I am 25 and born into orthodoxy and I am unsure of who's mine is.
I have always liked St Ignatius of Antioch, could anyone help me with this?

Unless you're of Serbian ancestry, your patron saint is the one whose name you were given when you were baptized. The only question, then, is "which one", if there is more than one saint who has that name.

Unless you're of Serbian ancestry, your patron saint is the one whose name you were given when you were baptized. The only question, then, is "which one", if there is more than one saint who has that name.

What happens if one is of Serbian ancestry? The Serbian custom is to have a common patron saint for the whole family, known as a Slava. That's why I more venerate st. Luke (my Slava) than st. Dominika  Well, I was baptized in Roman Catholic Church as Dominika Irena, but just right before my chrismation in the Orthodox Church my priest asked me what name I choose to use in Orthodoxy and I said 'Dominika', so I was chrismated as Dominika and I don't mention st. Irene in my prayers. Do you already have a Christian name that's a Saint's name? If so, keep that one.
