Probably not. They might think I'm some sort of fundamentalist. Oh just say you accept evolution and dinosaurs, and you'll be fine. Heck thrown in the Bible isn't infallible. Just wait until they see the rituals at home (or maybe thats me) She's really nice and the only girl I know that's smart (I have high standards when it comes to the intellect) How did you guys meet? Any similar interests like the history of Byzantium? What about her makes her smart? Around friends and people I know a bit I have little problems.

And no, I'm the only one who's interested in Byzantine history (that's why I wrote that essay on it). Very cultured, well read and knows things about many subjects. So with people you don't know, what then? I usually hope they'll go away and mind their own business. I'll avoid eye contact and stammer a little. It's bad, I know. Of all available denominations you are about to join the oldest and the most conservative one and you fear that people might took you as a fundamentalist? Fundamentalist as in very strict. |

I know what you meant but I hope you notice the irony in this. I actually have same kind of fear but I compensate my fundamentalism with long hair, gay-ish clothes, swearing, politically incorrect humour, smoking and alcohol. At least it breaks the stereotypes of religious people a bit.  |

When I was in my teens I used to sneak out in the evenings to attend a nearby Catholic church without telling my parents where I was going. They kept asking me what her name was. When I finally decided to become Orthodox, I didn't tell them until a couple of weeks before I got chrismated, and only because my bishop insisted that they be present. |
