Some Protestant Christians say that Christmas is from the pagns. In the past, people would worship SUN GOD on that day.

Thus, as a Christian , we should not join Christmas in order to separate us pagns' God and  Pagns' day /festival.

What do you think of it?

Probably all days have been used as a holiday by one of the morethe many pagan sects. Does that mean that we can have no holiday?

Present giving on that certain day might certainly be pagan, I'd say most of it however isn't.
Santa is Saint Nicholaus, and the Christmas tree is from modern Germany. The Christmas tree has pre-Christian predecessors, but you will always find parallels. Nothing is new under the sun, these are human cultural traditions.

This guy has a pretty good article:
http://www.piousfabrications.com/2010/12/pagan-origins-of-christmas.html

Aaand here's a quote:

"It is often said by the critics of Christian origins that certain ritual feasts, processions or dances are really of pagan origin. They might as well say that our legs are of pagan origin. Nobody ever disputed that humanity was human before it was Christian..." GK Chesterton.

Some Protestants believe in having no holidays. Theirs is a sad, weird faith.

We worship God everyday, not just during Christmas.  Their logic fails.

We didn't adopt a pagan festival, we stole the day on which it was celebrated and used it to celebrate our own festival, which had been previously celebrated on Jan 6 along with the baptism of our Lord. The same thing was done with all-saints in the west. It doesn't mean that we celebrate pagan festivals, only that we stole their place on the calendar to make a theological statement with our own feast days that we used to replace them with.

Julius Ceasar was not a pagan? These calendar worshippers are becoming stranger and stranger.

Wow, is there NOTHING new under the sun? Shades of Oliver Cromwell indeed. This argument is an oldie - after all the Puritans of England and New England fought the first 'war on Christmas' some three centuries ago..... http://www.lifeslittlemysteries.com/945-why-was-christmas-banned-in-america-.html

I think it's time I wrote a book. It is going to be called "No!"

It will have a page dedicated to each question about the faith that, if I get asked it again, will make me scream. There will be the question, then one of those fancy swirls like you see in calligraphy, and under that, the answer in huge letters. Because it's one thing to have different beliefs - it's another thing for absolutely no one to give a rip about the answer, no matter how many times it's been explained. How many years have to go by before people get the idea that this sort of thing isn't true?

"Did you get your holidays from--"

(squiggle squiggle)

"No!"

"Those pictures on the wall of your church, do you worship--"

"No!"

"Don't you really think televangelists are better than--"

"No no no no!"

Well, the Julian Calendar as we know it today didn't come from Julius Caesar directly.  There were changes to the calendar he came up with.

29 February was introduced in 8 AD.

Just so that, every four years, St. John Cassian could be the only saint celebrated. It's a divine conspiracy.

According to that article posted by Aedificare we didn't even do that. It was very good and not as long as it seems. I'd recommend it.

Garbage! I have a Protestant friend who, sadly, believes this heretical tripe. Santa = Satan?!?  Roll Eyes This comes from people who want to trash all traditions that are older than they are, save the Scriptures themselves, and have no knowledge of church history whatsoever. God save us from heretics and their false teaching!

Actually, interestingly enough, the pagan holiday in question, the "Dies Natalis" of Sol Invictus (the Roman sun god), does not appear in historical record until after the first recorded celebration of a certain Christian holiday on the same day. Wink In fact, Sol Invictus himself doesn't appear in any historical record until almost a full century after the birth of Christ. In all actuality, it seems that they stole the day from us.
