Some Protestant Christians say that Christmas is from the pagns. In the past, people would worship SUN GOD on that day.
Thus, as a Christian , we should not join Christmas in order to separate us pagns' God and Pagns' day /festival.
What do you think of it?

Present giving on that certain day might certainly be pagan, I'd say most of it however isn't. Santa is Saint Nicholaus, and the Christmas tree is from modern Germany. The Christmas tree has pre-Christian predecessors, but you will always find parallels. Nothing is new under the sun, these are human cultural traditions. We didn't adopt a pagan festival, we stole the day on which it was celebrated and used it to celebrate our own festival, which had been previously celebrated on Jan 6 along with the baptism of our Lord. The same thing was done with all-saints in the west. It doesn't mean that we celebrate pagan festivals, only that we stole their place on the calendar to make a theological statement with our own feast days that we used to replace them with. |

Actually, interestingly enough, the pagan holiday in question, the "Dies Natalis" of Sol Invictus (the Roman sun god), does not appear in historical record until after the first recorded celebration of a certain Christian holiday on the same day.  In fact, Sol Invictus himself doesn't appear in any historical record until almost a full century after the birth of Christ. In all actuality, it seems that they stole the day from us. |
