You might change your mind once you know what it is. Human Rights Campaign: Working for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Equal Rights.http://www.hrc.org/You can even get a lectionary to learn about why LGBTQ are God's chosen. A sample: The exiled Israelites addressed in Isaiah 49 apparently had reasons for worrying about their future as well. Indeed, verse 14 indicates that they felt “forsaken” and “forgotten” by God. Yet the author of Isaiah 49 responds to such despair by “transgendering” Israel’s deity. Although God is most often represented as a male deity in the Hebrew Bible, the prophet here characterizes God as a compassionate mother who cares for the child that she nurses (verse 15). Even if mothers do occasionally forget their children, the prophet continues, God will never forget the Israelites. The message of this gender bending oracle is therefore one of hope and encouragement. http://www.hrc.org/files/images/outinscripture/OutinScripture_Ordinary_YearA.pdfMazel Tov!

There are worse jobs: Any consumer product research job. Any sales position. Management of any kind. Human Resources. Life Coach. "Teachers". Marketing. Public Relations. Politician. Almost anyone involved in "the" media. Professional athlete. Anyone who talks about those athletes for a living. Industrial and graphic design. Advertising. Writing. Painting. Just lump all the arts here. Lawyers. Actuaries. "Professors". Really I should just list the jobs which are better cause everything above by far crushes more souls than what James is doing.

I'm all for anti-discrimination...everyone who is qualified to do the job, should be allowed a chance to get the job. Anyone who can afford to buy the house, should be given a chance to buy the house, etc.
However, I don't believe "special" groups, require "special" rights....more so than the average non-special individual.
Furthermore, equating painters, writers, etc....to promoting sin is a misnomer.
Writers wrote the Bible....and painters created our beautiful icons.
It is what is in the heart of the person, that reflects in their creation and the job they do.
If the group exists simply to ensure that people are treated equally, that's one thing. If the organization, however, promotes this lifestyle and wishes to "push" it on the society and make it "normal" and accepted and even embraced....then this is not good.

I actually do not work for HRC. I work for another group which is presently doing canvassing for HRC; specifically, for the HRC campaign to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which will end the lawful firing of people because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. If pregnant women should be unable to be fired simply for being pregnant (which is the case under federal law), I see no reason why the same should not be true of gay people

I would agree.....however, nobody should truly know your sexual orientation at work, in the first place.
I don't run around telling everyone I am straight....and am truly offended when non-straight people feel they have to tell everyone they are gay.....and make a big show of it.
Only your close friends need to know whom you find attractive.
I also don't think it appropriate for straight men to have screen-savers of bikini clad women, nor women to have desktop images of hunky men on the beach.
Sex has no place at work.

Heterosexual people "tell" constantly from language, photos, wedding bands, etc. Anyway, I am going to send you an email in a bit, if you account is still working. I've gotten some odd stuff from you, unless you have really taken an interest in MLM. My main gmail account got zarked a little bit as well recently.

Sex has a place everywhere. It's even in the Church. At work do people have photos of their husbands or wives? Wear wedding rings? Use the words husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend? This is all most gay people are talking about. Being out means you get to say these things without repercussion from loss of employment to having to deal with a hostile work environment. Then there are those who just seem "gay" and penalized in many ways for it. And those who seem it often are. Often not a fun row to hoe.

There are worse jobs:
Any consumer product research job. Any sales position. Management of any kind. Human Resources. Life Coach. "Teachers". Marketing. Public Relations. Politician. Almost anyone involved in "the" media. Professional athlete. Anyone who talks about those athletes for a living. Industrial and graphic design. Advertising. Writing. Painting. Just lump all the arts here. Lawyers. Actuaries. "Professors".
Really I should just list the jobs which are better cause everything above by far crushes more souls than what James is doing.
Amen to all that. Managment have crushed more souls combined than any other job.

If pregnant women should be unable to be fired simply for being pregnant (which is the case under federal law), I see no reason why the same should not be true of gay people If this is really what it does, I say good for them. I am with Liza on this. Equality is something we should strive for, but sadly, in far too many cases, we see this "equality" abused for the promotion of a lifestyle. Far too often, we see special provisions created, which in fact, promote an unequal environment. As long as a person’s private life in no way affects their professional life, it should not be held against them in any way. However, when it does, well, they really have nothing to complain about. People seem to forget a business also has the right to run itself the way it wants, to protect it from certain problems, and to require certain things from its employees. As long as it is standard for everyone, I see no problems with that either. For instance, if on Friday, Mr. Anderson left his 8th grade science classroom where he teaches, and Monday arrived as Ms. Anderson, the school has the right to effectively deal with the issue. There are more things in play than Mr. Andersons desire to be a woman. But were they simply to find out, through no fault or improper action of Mr. Anderson, he were a homosexual (i.e., he never mentioned it, lived in another nearby town where none of the students lived, didn’t get posted on YouTube for doing something stupid, etc.) and they fired him, yes, that is a problem. There are literally limitless scenarios possible. The bottom line is, if it is a REAL discrimination, not what people now days THINK is discrimination, protect the person’s rights. If that is what is being accomplished by this organization you work for, fantastic. If it steps, even slightly, outside of those boundaries, shame on everyone involved.

HRC
Human Rights Campaign? Hunting Retriever Club? Honda Worldwide Corporation?
By the way...congratulations on the new job!!!
Don't let these naysayers get you down.
Thank God you have employment!
Seriously? THAT's his job? Really, James? OMGosh....flipping burgers at McD's would be better. Lord, have mercy!!! Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. (Isaiah 5:20) Yes...because ending employment discrimination is a vile thing to do... And promoting collective approval of sin is a good thing? Read the prophets and their attacks on Israel's treatment of widows and orphans and the poor generally before you start talking about someone else "promoting collective approval of sin." Why?

Sex has no place at work.
^ THIS! A million times this. Absolutely! I actually had someone come into the office yesterday with a "what if" scenario. My initial response to the inquiry was, “Welp! I gotta get back to work.” This person insisted on getting an answer, so I gave it to them. It was short and to the point. I am certain this person felt a little out of sorts when I was done, but that is what happens when you press someone for a reply on that type of topic. I am sure it will not happen again. Will I treat this person differently in the future? No. Will this person treat me differently in the future? I have no doubt. Does that bother me in any way? Not really.
